The future of Sharepoint licensing

Hi I wonder what people's thoughts are on the future of licensing with Sharepoint and Office 365. It seems the current trend with their apps is to rebrand and separate them from existing O365 subscriptions, then migrating to new licenses that incur very high monthly usage fees (Power Apps, Power Automate, etc). I am now questioning our Sharepoint integration since their decision making is so unpredictable. I don't like the current trend but understand why they do it, get em hooked then change the terms once you can't live without it.

Any thoughts on this?

I hadn't given it much thought until your question. My initial reaction is that SharePoint will continue to be part of an existing business or enterprise license for the following reasons:-

1. Its been free since the start of Office 365 so why change now. 

2. Other products have always had premium versions, yes the license model can change but that's just part and parcel of a SaaS solution. 

3.  I don't see which functionality will be premium, Microsoft Lists maybe? 

4. It would annoy too many customers who use it for document management and Intranets. 

I will wait for the announcement next week or month...  

The only constant in Microsoft 365 is change!
