Synchronising files with required fields

If I create a document library in SharePoint with required metadata fields the synchronise to file explorer functionality seems to stop working. I can only open files in read only mode. If metadata fields are optional it works fine. Any ideas on how to fix this? If I don't have required metadata fields I am afraid our documents library will become impossible to navigate in.

This is a known issue with Sync Client and still hasn't been addressed by Microsoft. Here's a link to UserVoice request.

Only way to resolve this issue currently changing metadata column to not required.
