Structured/Managed navigation error on Modern Site

Hi,

We recently upgraded our root SharePoint site from a classic to Modern site. In our previous sites, we used managed/structured navigation for ease of use, simplicity, etc. 

In the new modern site, we have tried to activate publishing so that we may create a structured navigation. However, when we do so, we get the below error. I have done a ton of research on the topic and it seems that managed navigation is finally supported, but we still are having trouble activating the feature.

Can anyone assist with this?

Where did you read that managed metadata is supported in modern sites? AFAIK, that's not the case

@Juan Carlos González Martín  I could have sworn that I read an article stating that Managed Navigation is supported on Modern Sites. Is that not the case?
