Hi all,

I would really appreciate your help if anyone can share information about the best practices to follow before creation of any new SharePoint Site Collection or SubSite within SharePoint Online.

Many thanks.

Specifically in regards to what?
Configuration / Site Templates / User Guidance

It really depends on the industry and the work practices of the organization. For many industries, implementing  site request process to gather information such as site classification and purpose are recommended, but this is not necessary for many small companies.

@Susan Hanleyhas some good tips for Planning Communication sites, see https://view.officeapps.live.com/op/view.aspx?src=https%3A%2F%2Fstorage.snappages.site%2Fop8ir2nu2f%...

and @Martina Grom did  a good presentation at Ignite 2018, see https://myignite.techcommunity.microsoft.com/sessions/66487?source=sessions#ignite-html-anchor

Hi @Dean Gross

The Martina Grom link has disappeared.

IS there another link for it ?

Thanks

Nigel

Yea, someone decided that they needed to delete all of the content from previous Ignite conferences. The good news is that Martina has a bunch of similar stuff on her web site, Just use Bing and you should be able to easily find it.

@Badal Ratra This isn't a complete solution, but I did want to ask one question.  Are you using modern or classic sites?  If modern, just remember that subsites can ONLY be in classic view.  This one fact has been one of the key deciding factors in our architecture.
