Hi Everyone,
We have a SharePoint site that has/uses multiple "link" apps. All of the links have abruptly stopped working. When I edit any of the link entries within the app, and copy and paste the URL into a blank browser, it resolves fine and downloads the document intended. However, when I create the link and name it in SharePoint O365, I try to click it to open, or right click to open in new tab/window and it does nothing. When I hover over the link in google chrome, it displays the proper URL address (the same address that works when i copy and paste into a address bar in Chrome or IE). Please keep in mind all links in this site worked prior to a couple weeks ago. No other sites have been effected.
I also tried editing the homepage or a test site and adding it as a quick link, however it prevents me from creating the quick link. The message it gives me is "We only support links from websites (their addresses start with "'"http").". But I don't get the same error when creating it from the "links" app in SharePoint O365.
The URL I am using is browsing to a server (I entered a dummy server name):
file://psc-1rum-wfpp1/ENVIR/WEEKEND DUTY MANUAL/Current Version/Weekend Duty Manual current - scanned.pdf
I also try in Citrix and it gives a security alert, and if I press yes it brings me to the proper location in File Explorer.
Has anything changed with needing to use http for links or not being able to call in a server? Please help.
