Sharepoint metadata wiped when file has "visited" a different library

Copper Contributor

We have discovered a flaw in word and sharepoint handling of metadata. In our sharepoint library we have several metadata colums that we integrate into documents via content controls.

The issue is that if a user moves one of these documents into her personal onedrive, the metadata gets wiped when it is put back in its original location.

Anyone have a solution for avoiding this, except for telling users not to do this...

Hello,

This is happening because OneDrive doesn't have the same metadata column and it totally make sense. I would recommend keeping your meta data required then the next time they upload the same document they have to fill out the metadata column information.

Please let me know if you need more help.
