SharePoint List Item Modified By Changing Automatically.

We are using SharePoint 2016 on Prem. in the custom list  item modified by user change automatically hence tracking of the list item very difficult. 

earlier we have migrate SharePoint site 2010 to 2016 then given issue occured. even i am looking version history there also change modified and created by user changed. 

Please help.

I'm sorry, but I don't quite understand the scenario you are describing. Are you seeing items in a custom list change without any user activity? If so, what exactly is changing? If not, please provide some more details.

Hi,
Suppose to be I have Created an Item in a list and Modified by Y Person. After a day Modified by User changed Y to Someone else.

Normally, that could happen several ways:  a SharePoint workflow, , a Flow, a PowerApp or an actual user. 

However, I have client who is reporting some strange behavior that is somewhat similar to this, in my case the have seen duplicated records appear without explanation. I'm trying to get more data for my case, but now I'm wondering if there is a bug.

What Dean has advised is the most probable cause of your problem...bearing in mind you have a SharePoint 2016 in your hands, it's probable you have something running in your environment (Workflow, Event Receiver, custom code) that is the cause of this list item modifications

There is no workflow, it just a custom list. this list was created on 2008 year. After migration 2003 to 2010 there were no issue but after migration 2010 to 2016 this issue occurred. in the whole site collection there is no any custom code or else. please suggest.
today i have found modified by column is auto indexed. please best suggest solution or other R&D for the same.

Hi Anshul,

One of our user is also facing the similar issue where multiple list items are getting updated without any user activity. We have SharePoint 2010 list where multiple (or hundreds of) items as old as 2 years were updated within a second. Please let us know if there are any solution to resolve this issue.

We are now seeing this issue in SharePoint 2016 on a custom list. It started 2 weeks ago and has happened regularly ever Friday at 1:00 pm. Any word on a fix?
