Sharepoint - AutoCAD Files

Copper Contributor

Our office is considering moving to using Sharepoint as a virtual server for our drafting/3d modeling. With testing, we notice that when one user opens a .dwg, the file "disappears" from the folder until it is closed.

This prohibits anyone else from finding it, which is unnecessary. Is there a way to keep the file visible, and force a second user to open "Read Only" like the native file explorer does?

I would recommend to go to SharePoint Online because support to Autocad files in a native way is being added: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2019/03/27/announcing-new-integrations-autodesk-a...

@Gelby did you ever get resolution on this? We are experiencing the same thing in our tests. Thanks for any information you can provide.

@Gelby did you ever find a resolution to this? We have just started testing sharepoint online and syncing with one drive when we noticed this issue as well. When this happens it also breaks all the Xrefs to that drawing until a user saves it.
