Sharepoint 2016 Multi Server installation and Hardening

Hi Champs,

We are in process to setup multi server SharePoint farm where two Web Servers, two App Servers, two Search Servers, two Office Online servers and two Database servers involve.

In order to harden the environment, below queries has been raised by respective team.

1) Why Web server need to communicate with Database directly?

2) Why Web Server need to communicate with Search Server?

3) What is the purpose of installing each prerequisites and why it's required on all servers?

Hi All,

SharePoint 2016 Website is not working from WFE server if connection between WFE server and Database server has been disabled.

Kindly advise if any additional configuration required to make it work?
