HI All,

Seeking your expert help..!!

Back ground :

I have well running intranet site collection on webapp-1, now I have to bring in another intranet site onto another webapp on same server. So I have asked my IT to assign another IP address to the server.

my idea is to have two different site collections coming through two different webapps listening to same port 80.

To achieve that, this is what I did and it somehow screwed by search..!!

Below are the tasks I have done.

  1. Created webapp –
  2. Created site collection for root site call it INTRANET-2
  3. Get into IIS and INTRANET-2 website, edit bindings select the alliterative IP address which is .64
  4. Enter the site name in Hostname - INTRANET-2.DOCMIAN.EX.COM and change port number to port 80
  5. Get into intranet-1 bindings(already existing site) and select .32 as IP address, enter the site name in hostname.
  6. IN alternative access mapping, I have added INTRANET-1 website as default and server-website as custom and also added the servername website in IIS bindings.

After these changes, search results didn’t show up , thus I have reset the index and ran full crawl. Checked the errors, and found

Access is denied. Verify that either the Default Content Access Account has access to this repository, or add a crawl rule to crawl this repository. If the repository being crawled is a SharePoint repository, verify that the account you are using has "Full Read" permissions on the SharePoint Web Application being crawled. ( SearchID = 983BEC19-7B41-449A-800D- BD543A6FD013 )

The search is still not working, • Checked if Crawl account has read on all web applications. • Added Crawl account into sysadmin s of database server – no use. • Reset the index and reran the full crawl – no use. • I have now added my intranet site into most authoritative sites. - still no use • Added crawl account as sysadmin account in database , still no use • changed the crawl account to system account - no use. • Added content access account and gave it the Full control permission - in search service • Added content access account and gave it the Retrieve People Data for Search Crawlers permission - user profile
