We have an ongoing issue with files being overwritten on SharePoint 2010 as Edge and previously IE opens files from the server and allows direct saving back regardless of permission levels, rather than prompting Read only or Save as. I’m convinced it’s the NT Authority user group that is allowing people write access.
Previously we had to allow all NT Authority to have contribute just to view pages otherwise they would get an error for no access to layouts.
An error appears Access Denied when without contribute is set on the SharePoint 2010 sites.
It even locks out site admins.
How can we get it to prompt Read only or Save as?
Any suggestions please?
