Search box at the top of a SharePoint Online Comms site disappearing

Bit of a strange one. When our SharePoint Online comms sites load up the Search box appears at the top of the screen in the middle as it should. But when a users click on it, the box disappears completely from view. Any ideas?

The issue only started happening today and is occurring in all browser types (Edge, Chrome etc).

Thoughts?

That's totally unexpected. I would suggest here the following:
(1) Try on different browsers if the problem happens also there
(2) Open a support ticket adding some screenshots of what you see
