We are trying to implement two Retention/Deletion Policy with the below two labels and enable only for SharePoint
- Retention label - retain for ever
- Deletion label - delete if the file is not modified for last 3 yrs.
while testing we could see there were many files that were recently uploaded to sharepoint but has modified date older than 3 yrs. On further looking into we got to know that these file were copied via the Sync functionlity in the Document library, example below file copied has Modified date earlier than created date(current date)
However when you drag and drop file to the library directly, modified date is current date
With this if we implement the Policy, chances are that files get deleted immediately as per the Policy.
Is there a way we can change the Sync functionality behaviour that is actually misleading for files stored in SharePoint.
