Problem syncing sharepoint library to One drive sync client

Copper Contributor

We recently started to get our team migrating across from One Drive and local drives to Sharepoint document libraries in departmental hubsites. Sync client worked fine in the first library until one member of our team uploaded his files and now it is not working anymore.

After some searching I discovered the most likely reason is that he copied files with unsupported characters from his local drive.

Is there a way for me to automate the process of finding all the wrong file/ folder names and changing them inside sharepoint?

Solution

@DTL_747 you could use the SharePoint Migration Tool to scan the source folders and look for unsupported characters and very long file paths. It can't scan documents already in SharePoint but it would help identify issues.
