Preventing contributors from editing a site page

Hi

Every time a user is given contributor levels of access to a SharePoint site they are able to actually edit the page (adding or removing site page content)

I want contributors to actually contribute with read/write access. Why is editing a site page attached to any permission but those who have full control or another unique permission that allows for that?

Is there away around this?

You can go to your site pages library and change the permissions on that library alone. Then they can contribute to everything but editing pages.
