Preservation Hold Library taking up space

I am a school student needing help with the preservation hold library. I recently deleted a large amount of old files and videos (totalling around 500gb) however, instead of being removed, they got sent to the preservation hold library. any clue on how to get rid of those files or free up space?

Unfortunately the only way to do this is having a global or compliance admin add an exception to your site from the retention policy it is under in compliance center. That may or may not be something alllowed but that is the only way.
