Hi,
Just received a message from a User who is trying to rename of Folder on their site.
They are in the Owners group but get 'Access Denied' They requested access and the request was sent to them and they approved the request but still unable to rename the folder...
Any ideas why this could occur???

@LawanIdriss
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I'm still unsure why the Access Denied message appeared when they were in the Owners permission group and have been for a while now??

@Chris_Clark1968 Are you using unique permissions for this specific folder?
Try following the steps given here to go to Advanced permissions settings for the specific folder in SharePoint document library: How to create unique permission level in SharePoint Document Library?
Once you are on advanced permissions settings page, you can check the user permissions on that specific folder using this option:
Make sure user has Edit or Full control permissions on the folder so that they can rename it (somehow "delete" permissions are also required to rename folders/files in SharePoint - it comes automatically with Edit & Full control permissions).

@ganeshsanap
Thank you, again, for you prompt reply.
I've checked the user permissions and it seems they have Full Control

If they have Full Control permissions on the specific folder, they should be able to rename it without any issue.
Is there any event receiver or some other custom functionality used which might prevent users from renaming the folders?
However, if it is still not working for users, I will suggest you to raise a support ticket with Microsoft directly and report this behavior. Follow: Get M365 Support - Online Support

Solution@Chris_Clark1968 Sorry, edited my above response accordingly.
Users should be able to rename the folders with SharePoint default Full Control permissions.
Side note: "Delete" permissions are required for renaming files/folders in SharePoint. Check these links for more information:

@ganeshsanap Wanted to follow up that I am still having the same issue. I am the creator and owner of the sharepoint and it will not let me delete or rename documents, which is a little frustrating since it came with a "General" folder that I now can't rename or get rid of. Any help is appreciated to figure out why I can't rename the folders on the site library in the sharepoint I created! Thanks.
