Hi all,

Is it possible to open files in native/client apps like Excel & Word from a web part?  All options I'm aware of have been set to open files in native apps, (these are changing the "Open Documents in Client Applications by Default" option within "Site Settings > Site Collection Features" & "Opening Documents in the Browser" option within "Library Settings > Advance Settings") and this has worked for most files, however I have a number of files linked on our front page in a "Quick Links" web part which are still defaulting to opening in a browser.

I have tried linking to files within the web part using a link with ms-excel:ofe|u| in-front of the link, however SharePoint will not let this be used as the link is no longer beginning with https://.

From what I can tell, there is currently no fix or work-around for this but I thought I'd check if anyone here knows about it.

Many thanks in advance,
Richard
