Documents attached to a list item under the "Attachments" section are edited by multiple users simultaneously. If comments are made in a word document there is not functionality to tag (@user) inside the word document. This functionality resumes if we are working on the document within a document library or other shared space.
Is there a way to enable the tagging of users within a document attached to a list item on SP? Is this a limitation of list attachments or a list setting?

@Gjaynes1992 Are you editing the list item attachment in browser online?
I just checked in our SharePoint tenant and I am able to add comments without any problem but cannot @mention other users in the comments.
I am not sure but maybe this is a limitation by Microsoft. You can raise a support ticket with Microsoft directly and report this behavior: Get M365 support - online support

@ganeshsanap Yes, we are editing the attachments in a browser online and same as you I can add comments but have not been able to @ anyone inside of those comments. Thank you for the support ticket suggestion.
