New Update Deleted Site Templates

It seems that the new update for site templates just hit our tenant. That would be fine except that it wiped out all of our current site templates - that were created using the correct method in anticipation of these new templates being offered. So now . . . we see the new templates and when you click on the Your Organization tab. . . it's empty and says we don't have any templates. We tried republishing the templates and that didn't work either. Is anyone else finding a great way to deal with this?

Unfortunately, our site templates also have SharePoint Task Lists in some of them and now those appear to be gone. I admit to loving the new MS Lists templates, but now we have no contact lists or task lists or calendar lists. These are pretty basic IMO. I have to admit I'm disappointed because now users are not going to be happy.

 

I'm open to suggestions. (And no, we are not pushing Tasks by Planner to replace the task list and the nice timeline that Planner doesn't have anyway.)
