I'm looking for some advice from someone who's a whiz with formulas for calculated columns and/or query language. I know how great these things are but unfortunately not my strength when it comes to creating them.
What I want to do is to use either the News web part or Highlighted content web part to present a list of 'previous' news items and exclude the current page from the list.
How I'm doing things at the moment is to simply add the current page title into the web part filter using managed properties. This is achieves my desired outcome for a single page, but I'm trying to set up a page template with that has the web part on it with the filters already set so that my authors don't have to worry about updating the filter.
Essentially, I want the filter to be something like: Managed property Title does not equal "current page title", without needing to manually type in the actual page title.
I know that I can't do this with the out of the box filtering tools for the news web part, but was wondering if I could create some kind of calculated column to create another managed property that would help me achieve my objective.
I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what formula might be suitable for use in a calculated column, but can't think of one.
Perhaps using a custom query in the Highlighted Content web part would be better, but as per my opening, I'm not to strong with query language so would appreciate advice from someone with more knowledge.
