MS Project 'Project has Stopped Working’ upon saving file back to SharePoint

As of this week, our field workers have recently been bombarded with ‘Project has Stopped Working’ when they attempt to update MS Project file back into SharePoint.  It would allow them to check out the document, but after making changes, when they save and check the file back in, they get the error.  

Has anyone else had that issues?  They are either using their MyFi or their smartphones as hotspots.  Don't know if that makes any difference.

I have the same issue with SharePoint, did you ever find a fix?

Sad to say, no. It does have to do with internet connection as I think I read somewhere that keeping the document open must have a constant connection to the file, and should that connection be lost at any point in time, the error occurs.

Therefore after too many complaints about connectivity, we have forgone that way of using SharePoint.

Sucks though, as it was a great way to show transparency while thousands of miles away.
