Move Sharepoint Site to another server

Hi

I recently started at a new company that has two different divisions within it. I was pointed by IT (external company) towards the Sharepoint s for one of the divisions to create an Integrated QHSE Management system, which I have done over a number of weeks, and also started populating it, especially a document register. 

I've now been told by management that IT pointed me to wrong sharepoint server.

Is it possible to move a site from one company sharepoint to another? I'm still waiting on the external IT company to come back with an answer, can't bear the thought of having to build the site and every sub-site from scratch again on the other sharepoint server.

Hi,
You could have different options that might work as long as the SharePoint version on both servers is the same. Things to check and try:
(1) Export the site at the source server and import in the target one
(2) Take a bacnkup of the content DB and attacht in the target server
