Managing Large SharePoint List: Restricting Viewing Permissions by Department

How can I set up item-level permissions in a large SharePoint list to restrict access so that, for example, IT managers can view and edit only IT-related items, and have no read or edit access to items from other departments like HR, Culture, Parking, or Finance?

You can use Power Automate for item level permissions: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/business-apps/power-automate/guidance/manage-list-i...

 

Or split every department in their own list, so you can set permission on list level.
