mailto not working with button

I contacted Microsoft for help as I am trying to getting a button to essentially allow user to click the button for them to be presented with outlook. I have tried everything to add mailto: or even MailTo: or Mailto:. Very frustrating because there is no other solution. I don't want to add it as text to the site. Could anyone advise any other option for this button to work to email the certain assigned email.

@Imanh08 you can do this with an image web part.  Add your image and in the Link field type mailto:address. It will add an https:// before it as you type:

Once you've entered the whole address just delete that https:// and click the Republish button. When you click the image Outlook will open.

Guessing you're using Chrome?
It seems that chrome is having a bug with mailto, so that's the reason. 🙂
Try with Edge or Firefox etc.

Well what version? I'm guessing an older version?

I'm tested it on Chrome: "108.0.5359.124" and it doesn't work there. Tested on multiple machines
Webpart works in edge: "108.0.1462.54" and Firefox: "107.0.1". Tested on multiple machines

@NicolasKheirallahI'm using version 108.0.5359.125 (Official Build) (64-bit). Works perfectly fine.

Are you using any beta version of chrome? As the latest one is 108.0.5359.124 and seems to be a bug in that one.

Might be a bug on the 108.0.5359.124  which has been fixed on 108.0.5359.125

What Edge version ? 🙂

You can clearly see it's an browser issue, if you press ctrl + the link, it will just open a tab to mailto:email address removed for privacy reasons instead of prompting you to open your email or opening a new email
