Is Sharepoint suitable for networked excel documents?

I have a networked Excel work book at work. It is networked to a primary reservations station and a secondary reservations station. I need software that allows me to do the following and was wondering if SharePoint might be the best option......

1) I need the workbook to be able to be either updated on both stations at the same time in real time without creating duplicate files or it would need to be read only to one station while the other edits.

2)If real time editing on both stations is a possibility I still would need it to lock which ever row on the excel sheet is being edited by one station to the other station. So if station one is editing a 5pm time slot (excel doc row) it will prevent station 2 from accessing that time slot but station 2 can still access any other time slot for editing.

thanks

SharePoint can do real-time co-authoring (opened in the browser or Excel desktop), however it is locked at the cell rather than row level.
