Importing users or groups into list that no longer exist

Copper Contributor

Hi

I am trying to create a SharePoint list from an Excel file.

One of the data fields needs to be a Person or Group data type, but some of the users no long exist in the company.

Can you tell me if there is a way to import that data and keep the data type as a Person rather than a simple text box.

Thanks

In that case, you will need to import into a Text field. If the user no longer exists the People column won't be able to resolve the name it won't save the data.
If you do need to match those users, then you can create users in O365 with no license and disable login.
