How to use Filename, modify date and publish date as a quick part in word app

Copper Contributor

we want to insert filename, modify date and publish date in a word document template as quick part connected to sharepoint. These values should populate from sharepoint. For example when document name is changed, we should see new document name inside. We use office 365 solution.

May you help?

Thanks!

@furkanf SharePoint document metadata including those properties will update when added as Quick Parts. This is out of the box functionality.  Do you see the properties in the Quick Parts > Document Properties list?

Hello @Steve Knutson ,

For example, i see publish date in quick parts. But it doesn't come from sharepoint. If i change publish date, it still show the old date. And it allows me to select date.

I added two screenshot. I can see Document ID is updated from shared point and document version.

But i cannot use publish date as document ID.

Thank you.

@furkanf I think I understand the issue. The Published Date property is a hidden Word property that is manually updated by the user only.

In SharePoint if you add a new field to store the published date you can use that SharePoint field in Quick Parts and it will update. You could update that field using an approval Flow if you are using the SharePoint document publishing features. I wrote a blog here:

This article explains the Published Date property

I hope this helps :)
