Hide Subsite?

Is it possible to hide the Subsites tab under Site Contents?

I have a couple of subsites that I use for data lists and if someone goes into the overall site contents I would prefer they don't see them listed !

anyway to achieve this?

Firstly, there is not out of box way to achive this.

You may try by removing the View Application Pages permission from permission level. However, this will not work for Full Control permision level and may affect partial functionality.

If they don't have access to the Subsites then they won't see them listed under the Subsites tab.

To achieve that you can just stop inheriting permissions from the top level site for your subsites and ensure that only the people you want to see the subsites have permission.
