It appears that the profile import service on SPO gathers every userID from the AzureAD in O365. This means that the profile service gets clogged up with external contacts, rooms, shared mailboxes etc. This means that people searches are full of accounts/information that the user has to troll through before finding the information they want.
So is there a way of tuning out the "noise" from the profile import process? Having it just import licensed users would be a good start. I've looked at creating search scopes to filter out some of this but after a while the query gets to large and it is easy to exclude genuine results.
