Filtering multiple choice column?

Copper Contributor

Hi all,

I have a sharepoint list set up with a multiple choice column of categories; but it doesn't seem to allow practical filtering of choices?

If I have "ChoiceA" and "ChoiceB" then my options to filter become #ChoiceA#,  #ChoiceA#ChoiceB#, #ChoiceB#, #ChoiceB#ChoiceA#.  With 12 choices this filter menu is somewhat annoying.

To me it makes sense for a multiple choice column to filter in the same fashion - by multiple choices; which it does to some degree.  But why is the filter section being populated with every single (used) combination?  it's not  visually easy to read, neither does A#B or B#A seem to make much sense.

Even if I select "ChoiceA" it will filter to all entries with Choice A.  If I select "ChoiceA" and "ChoiceB" it will find only those with that combination (rather than A (or) B), which would suggest #A#B# being a redundant option?

Is there any way to remove these combinations or at least put the root choices as the first 12? preferably without the ###?
