Hi,
I have a sharepoint list that contains a filter for visitors that are arriving [today], or after [today].
There is a requirement to use a filter to hide visitors if they are visiting a certain host in the company.
when I apply this filter to the sharepoint list,
anyone who isnt a global administrator will no longer be able to see the sharepoint list.
removing the "hostedBy" filter allows the users to then be able to access the visitor list.
Is there a way to have both the filters active for the sharepoint list?

What is the column/data type of HostedBy column?
Is it person or group (people) or single line of text column?

The HostedBy field is a Person field, but the setting to allow for more than 1 person to be selected is checked, if that makes a difference.

I just tried the same scenario on our SharePoint site and it worked for me without any issue - both with the single selection and multiple selection person or group column.
Make sure you are using correct name of user in the list view filter.
Note: I am site admin where I have the filtered list.

Is anyone else except the site admin able to see the list?
The site admin can still see the list for me, but anyone else gets the error message.

Yes, I tried accessing the list using the user account with only read permissions and user can see the list items without any error.
Try creating a new list for testing, add person or group column & view filters with same settings as old list and see if you are able to reproduce the same issue in other list.
If you are still facing the same issue for test list, I will suggest you to raise a support ticket with Microsoft directly and report this behavior: Get M365 support - online support
