We currently have an Intranet style Sharepoint site, so with lots of subsites all living on 1 site collection.

We want the ability to export a subsite and attach it to it's own Site collection as a Communication site.

Otherwise we're going to have a lot of work reproducing all the subsites and it's content that already lives on our Intranet"

Has anyone found a way to do this?

AFAIK, there is not a way provided by Microsoft to achieve this, but what you can do is use a third party migration tool such as Sharegate that allows you to "promote" a subsite to a site
