It's not you. Microsoft changed the experience of editing links in Text web parts. You used to be able to click anywhere in a link and edit it. This now inserts duplicate link text inside the existing link text. To avoid that, highlight the complete link text and edit the link (the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl-K).
