Does sharepoint allow more than 1 person to amend workbook

Copper Contributor

Hi

Im completely new to sharepoint and what I want to do is up to 5 people access the workbook at the same time and then cut and paste data from it.

The questions are

1) Can more than 1 person have the workbook open at once as read/write

2) If a person cuts  data from it  will it update automatically on everyone elses screen?

Thanks

Hi @shreked - I'm assuming you're referring to Excel? As long as the file is in M365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams) and all of the editors are either using the version of Office that comes with O365/M365 OR if they have an older version of Office, they only edit online, then yes, they can add edit at the same time. Microsoft recommends no more than 10 editors at any given time, and they won't be able to edit the same cells at the same time. You can learn more here: Collaborate on Excel workbooks at the same time with co-authoring (microsoft.com)

Hope that helps.
