Document Library - additional or linked document

I have a SP-Online document library with a simple multi level power automate approval flow. Further I have the requirement to add one or many additional documents to the actual document items. Those documents don't need any versioning or other logic, I just need a list with links to other documents or a list of attachments within a document item of the document library. Are there any best practices for a scenario like that? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Just an addition from my side (still hoping to find someone with similar requirements):

 

A simple solution that I tried is to put those additional documents into another document library and add a choice column (multiple values) to the first library. Basically works, but the usability is a disaster when the amount of additional documents gets larger, as you are just selecting from a dropdown list without any filter or search features. (Even showing a flow populated column with some more information is not really improving that)
