Differentiated personalized home page layout for different groups of users

Brass Contributor

Hi.

When our employees navigate to our upcoming intranet site, we'd like that home page (i.e. mycompany.sharepoint.com) to be personalized both in terms of which news and calendar sources are displayed, but also things such as which links are displayed. Regarding the latter: For one group of employees (for example researchers) we'd like the home page to have links to one set of resources, which might be a different set of resources than for other groups of employees (for example technical staff).

For now we're interested in looking into the use of different links for different groups of people, but might wish to expand this to other web parts later on.

Is it possible to have the home page be somewhat visually different for different groups of people?

Hi @kenneho ,

There are 2 ways that you can do this with content:-

1. Audience targeting - showing a webpart to a group of users

At the moment the only modern webpart that can be shown to only one set of users is the News Webpart.  - https://support.office.com/en-us/article/overview-of-audience-targeting-in-modern-sharepoint-sites-6...

2. Permissions.

Pages of content such as news and events can be permissioned differently but this is an difficult task and means one set of users cannot see the content even if they try and search for it.

Probably not the answer you were looking for.
