Copying files with column data preserved

Copper Contributor

The company I work at has one document library which stores current working files and another library which is an archive of past working files, these are usually pdfs which have properties such as revision number, document ID (internal document notation), approved by, and so on.

I've added the same columns to the archive library and tried to copy a file from the original library to the archive library, but the only column data that is preserved from the original library is the Revision, for some reason, although all of the other columns come in the same order and have the same exact names and data types.

I've also tried to create a flow for this, but I have the same problem and am not managing to use the copy file properties action because I'm not very proficient in Power Automate.

Does anyone have a solution to this, or maybe know what I'm doing wrong?

Thank you!

If my memory serves well, this is expected when copying files. If you move the files and the columns at the destination are exactly te same, then the metadata and versions should be copied https://support.office.com/en-us/article/move-or-copy-files-in-sharepoint-00e2f483-4df3-46be-a861-1f...
