Computer/device name information in Sharepoint recycle bin

Copper Contributor

Dear All,

We have an inquiry from our O365 SharePoint user when he use multiple devices (notebook, mobile, tablet) to access SharePoint files.  He seems to make unintentional deletion of files from SharePoint and thus they go to the recycle bin.

We managed to recover all files from recycle bin.  But we have an inquiry if we can tell which devices that deleted the files in the first place.  Due to all of his devices logged in with the same O365 account, we cannot identify this and only inform him to be more careful when using devices in public and some other basic data protection policy.

Is there a way to check this?

Thanks!

Athikom

Hi! First I would urgently recommend this user to have a SharePoint Training first! Second: you can set out a Flow: if this account wants to delete something then first record entry date and account and path from what he intends to delete if. If he gets permission (approval workflow!) then he can delete it. Greets, Eva
AFAIK, there is no way to directly identify the source device that would be causing this files deletion...I guess you think ODFB Sync client is causing this, don't you?
