Auto populate columns based on other columns when filling out the form

I am using a SharePoint list and the default form view.  I want to populate a column based on another column when filling out the form.  It must be in the form view and not after I hit submit.  Is this possible without taking the form of Power Apps?

@eenochs-turner this isn't do-able with the default form, you would need a Power Apps customised form.
