Auto number with prefix (sharepoint list)

I would like to add a column to a list in sharepoint (populated from a form), that automatically assigns a number to each new entry, with the prefix "DEV-", so eg. "DEV-0001", then "DEV-0002" etc.

I've searched online and found some explanations, but they were all too complex for me to understand! I would really appreciate some help!

It worked - thanks! Now I have a follow up question - is it possible to update the ID field to show leading zero's or start at a specific number? We wont be starting with DEV-0001, as this system's been in place for some time, but something like DEV-3893.
