Are newly created SharePoint Online lists created with Dataverse?

I was told today that my team is creating new SP lists for all Power App and Power Automate development, as newly created SP lists will now leverage the Dataverse framework.  Is this true?  I am intrigued, as this list gains approximately 20k list items annually, and we have experienced corruption and anomalous behavior in the past.  Thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!

First time I hear something like this. If you are building Power Apps on top of SP List, you are not using Microsoft Dataverse
