Hot on the heels of introducing Microsoft Syntex at Ignite last month, we’re excited to share an update on new Syntex services and capabilities that will be available soon. These updates and new features will make it easier for you to get started with Syntex. Let’s dive in!
Document processing
Free preview of Syntex document processing. Beginning November 29, 2022 for a limited time, you can activate a free public preview of Syntex unstructured document processing and prebuilt document processing. Unstructured and prebuilt document processing models save time and reduce human errors, while addressing compliance and security needs, by automatically classifying files and extracting information.
This public preview can help you to get a baseline on your usage and estimate costs with a future consumption-based model - pay for only what you use and have greater control over your budget. During the preview, usage of these two services will be at no cost. As preview services, availability is subject to change without notice.
Your Azure subscription information is used to pay for Syntex services. You’ll need the following to join the free preview:
• An Azure subscription and resource group to set up pay-as-you-go billing (Microsoft Learn article)
• Azure storage container to view your usage in the Azure portal
We expect to end the preview and bring these metered services to general availability in early 2023. Pricing will be disclosed upon general availability, and you’ll need to reactivate these paid services to continue using them at the end of the preview. New and updated product capabilities
Content rules. Syntex allows you to build simple rules-driven actions in document libraries based on metadata. Content rules (previously described as the “Syntex content processor”) can send alerts, and now move and copy files based on metadata extracted by Syntex models. For example, you can create a rule to move files tagged with a specific customer to a specific library or folder. This helps you structure your content architecture with the power of AI-driven processing. Syntex content rules are on the Microsoft 365 public roadmap – Feature ID #98111 – and will be generally available by December 31, 2022.

Updated content query. Instead of searching only for keywords in Syntex, now you can make faster, more precise queries based on specific metadata. You’ll be able to query based on data ranges, number ranges, and currency ranges – and excluded values - in additional to specific values. The updated content query capability is on the Microsoft 365 public roadmap – Feature ID #101513 – and generally available by December 31, 2022.
