SharePoint Framework support in SharePoint 2016 on-premise?

Copper Contributor

I am new to SharePoint framework but i have been working on traditional SharePoint development for more than 2 years. I was going over some of the samples listed in SharePoint/sp-dev-fx-webparts. While the sample sharepoint-crud works fine the local workbench and in O365, there seems to be an problem while trying to access the workbench on the on-premise edition of SharePoint 2016, please help me in this regards. The documentation states that it is supported in on-premise system as well, is there anything we need to do additionally to use SPFx in the on-premise environment.

SharePoint 2016 is not yet ready to support SPFx. It's supposed to have this support when FP 2 arrives at some point in the future
