Hi,

Does the shared navigation etc. for a Hub site respect the security configuration of associated sites? For example if a user doesn't have access to a site, will that site still show in the Hub site navigation?

Thinking of something like a collection of Finance sites with one being the Payroll team site collection and where most members of the Finance team wouldn't have access to the Payroll site therefore wouldn't need to see the link.

Cheers,

James.

At this time, the nav is manually created and available as is to everyone. It is not yet audience targeted, or driven by permission groups or metadata. All are certainly within scope for the future, and the team is aware of the feedback.

+1 for Security Trimmed Global nav :).

Thanks @Mark Kashman for the info, great to hear that this is on the roadmap for hub sites.

+10 for Security trimming of associated hub sites.  Some additional thoughts:

  • Don't limit us to "friendly URL's."  They're not!
  • Needs to work for both the REST API and the OOB UI
  • Include custom properties capabilities (we get this for managed metadata nav today when using the REST API).
  • Needs to be fast (don't make me write my own caching).

How far away would you say that a security trimmed hub site nav is ? :)

I am wondering about how soon until we see security trimmed navigation? We are looking to roll out some hub sites, but this is a requirement otherwise it will take many more hub sites to accomplish our goals.

I am also wondering if there is any kind of timeline as to when this most important integral part of global navigation will be available?

My customers indeed also require the global navigation to be security trimmed. Hopefully it will be on the roadmap soon, because at the moment it isn't.

Plus one for this feature. Hoping this is hitting the streets soon.

@Al McKelvie On the roadmap is audience targeting for site navigation. Not quite security trimmed, but it will be a huge improvement. Q4 CY 2019!
