View Security Alerts - What are Account Protection alerts?

In the View Security Alerts section of the Security and Compliance Centre, my tenant is O365 E3.  I'm looking for a more detailed explanation of what Account Protection alerts are.  I've seen this:

But I need more detailed documentation.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?

If I'm to take a wild guess here, those should be related to the newly introduced Threat intelligence feature, specifically related to malware/phish detection ("protected" event) and end users reporting ("submission"). But lets see is someone from Microsoft can tune in for more detail.

The documentation is terribad btw, why even bother putting such article...
