hello

according to this topic "windows Datacenter firewall", we can configure micro-segmentation security ok vswitch port not on vm guest. am i right ? our major vm are linux ubuntu.

i did not find any step-by-step guide that help me to setup MS SDN.

Reference to recent Hyper-V vulnerability CVE-2021-28476 We have successfully patched Windows 2012 server through KB 5003220. However, attempts to update Windows 2008 R2 SP1 through KB 5003233 & 5003228 gives failure configuring updates reverting changes.

Are there any plans to update ADMT? The current version hasn't been updated for quite a few years and has a couple of showstopper issues with Windows 10. While we prefer Quest's MMAD for larger AD DS migrations it would be great to have ADMT as a free alternative for smaller projects.

Will nano server be making a come back for containers or embedded devices? I saw with the last version of nano you could get a full install under 400mb. The enhancements to the kernel that are coming to Windows Server 2022 would be useful in a tiny package for these types of scenarios

Will Windows Server get feature parity with Azure Stack HCI? There are many environments that would benefit from the enhancements made in HCI, but they cannot connect back to the internet at all. We need parity between the solutions.

We know Azure is getting all the love, but has there been any significant / any improvement or development work at all for classic, core roles like AD DS/ADCS, Fileserver/DNS/dhcp etc? It would seem to me that since 2016 nothing has significantly changed with that regards. If you compare a gap of major release, like 2008 to 2012 - its so much different - whereas in most cases - 2016-2022 versions are quite alike in terms of feature parity. It kind of looks like life support, not an active development 😞

Role based certs are mainstream now, but I think there's a opportunity for Hybrid Specialization with Windows Server. MCSA, MCSE batdes were widely recognized in the industry. Are there any plans to bring them back for WS2022?

Hotpatch or equivalent for on-prem servers

The hotpatch feature for Azure is great but on-prem servers are long overdue for a replacement or new method of patching that isn't WSUS or WSUS managed by Endpoint Manager.

We limit our product sync and every month the server chokes for hours trying to synchronize the WSUS database after updates are released. Help me not have to stay up to 10 PM trying to simply release patches.

What does the "FS-FileServer" feature actually do? The description in the GUI does not help - the OS has this functionality even when the feature is disabled.

Virtualization improvements for non-HCI installations

Microsoft states that Azure Stack HCI is an ultimate virtualization host. But it comes with its own downsides: first, it is quite costly (for us, for example, it costs 66% more, than Windows Server nodes, because it does not include Windows Server licenses for VMs), second - it has quite restrictive hardware requirements (not everyone needs high-end, for some workloads HDDs and 1Gbit network is enough).

What do you have in bag for those organizations which do not need hyper-converged infrastructure (or cannot use it due to hardware constraints) and would like to build their virtualization infra using regular Windows Server as hypervisors?
