Can Copilot Studio agent connected via WhatApp channel escalate to representative?

We have built a Copilot Studio agent that uses adaptive cards and connected it through a WhatApp channel. We want this agent to be able to escalate a customer to a representative should they need assistance while communicating with the bot, however, with the current channel set up we use it is not possible. We had managed to connect the agent via Dynamics and WhatsApp simultaneously, but we then had double messages coming through on the WhatsApp chat, now we are only connected through the WhatApp channel. Is there a way for us to also connect through Dynamics in order for customers to be able to escalate to a customer representative? Or is there a way for us to allow for escalations via the WhatsApp connection?

SystemError in Teams Group Chat for Copilot Studio Agent

Hi,

I'm seeing what appears to be a Teams group chat issue with a Copilot Studio agent created using the new Copilot Studio UI.

Scenario:

- Agent is published and available in Teams.

- Other users can chat with the agent successfully in 1:1 conversations.

- The agent does not use SharePoint knowledge, authenticated knowledge sources, or external actions/connectors.

- The agent works correctly for me in a Teams group chat.

- However, when other participants in the same group chat mention or interact with the agent, they receive:

"Sorry, an unexpected error occurred.

Reference code: MCS-4041

Error code: SystemError"

Additional details:

- The agent was created recently using the new Copilot Studio experience, so this does not appear to be related to an older migrated bot.

Has anyone experienced the same MCS-4041 / SystemError behavior in Teams group chats? Is this a known issue, limitation, or registration/caching bug between Copilot Studio and Teams?

Quisiera compartir un problema que he estado enfrentando al trabajar con Copilot y documentos almacenados en mi OneDrive personal. Al intentar usar ciertos archivos como fuentes para proyectos, Copilot muestra el mensaje “The document is blocked by its content”, impidiendo que el archivo sea procesado.

Los documentos afectados incluyen:

Proyecto Educativo Institucional (PEI)
Reglamento Interno Escolar
Plan Anual de Gestión
Otros documentos PDF y Excel con contenido normativo o institucional

Aunque los archivos fueron creados por mí como persona natural y están en OneDrive personal, Copilot los clasifica como contenido altamente sensible, probablemente debido a:

Lenguaje normativo o jurídico
Estructura de reglamentos y protocolos
Información institucional o disciplinaria
Palabras clave asociadas a documentación oficial
Formatos PDF/Excel con tablas, artículos o indicadores

Entiendo que Copilot aplica filtros de seguridad para evitar procesar documentos que puedan contener información crítica o normativa, pero en este caso se trata de archivos destinados a publicación pública en la web de la escuela.

Me gustaría saber:

Si existe una forma de marcar estos documentos como seguros desde OneDrive personal.
Si hay configuraciones específicas que permitan a Copilot procesar documentos normativos creados por el usuario.
Si otros usuarios han enfrentado este tipo de bloqueo con contenido institucional no confidencial.

Buongiorno,

ho acquistato una licenza Microsoft 365 Premium, ma il mio account non risulta amministratore del tenant.

Non posso accedere al portale https://admin.microsoft.com (errore: “non hai accesso”) e non ho alcun altro account amministratore disponibile.

Ho necessità di diventare Global Administrator del tenant per abilitare funzionalità avanzate come Copilot Studio.

Il supporto Microsoft mi ha indirizzato qui per avviare la procedura di verifica e recupero del ruolo amministrativo del tenant (“tenant admin recovery”).

Chiedo assistenza per:

identificare il tenant associato alla mia licenza,
verificare l’assenza di un amministratore globale,
assegnare il ruolo Global Admin al mio account.

Hi Folks, I am new to this forum but want to share an interesting thing which I did with my first copilot agent.
I have built an agent which can read incomplete number of "time-reported hours" from timesheet report and send individual emails to all those with "missing hours" in the body of email. This acts as a reminder for all the folks who missed filling their timesheets.

The agent has worked well so far.

New workflow designer accessing environment variables

I've a triggered workflow (Email arrives) that I added into a solution. I'd like to use environment variables from within the workflow. The variables and the workflow are in the same solution.
Unfortunatly the environment variables are not visible like they were in the old designer.

How can I access them ?

Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can confirm or correct my understanding of a limitation we're experiencing.
We have a Copilot Studio agent published to a SharePoint site. When users interact with the agent, they are unable to see their previous chat history — unlike the built-in SharePoint AI agents (e.g. SharePoint Agents / Copilot for SharePoint), which do appear to retain and display conversation history.
Is it correct that Copilot Studio agents published to SharePoint do NOT support persistent chat history visible to the end user, while native/built-in SharePoint AI agents do support this out of the box?

The Employee Self-Service agent - how to find it

I see that Microsoft has put a lot of efforts to marketing the Copilot Employee Self-Service Agent but it seems it is not available for every tenant.

I have already checked on several small and mid ones (5-2k users) and cannot find it in templates.
As I understand from what I already red and saw, this is a template that should be available to you when you start building agents. Unfortunately when I enter Copilot Studio and enter in the search ESS (abbreviation from Employee Self-Service) I got only those two agents marked red filtered (see screenshot below).
When I installed IT Helpdesk agent, I do not see topics related to HRSD in ServiceNow which I need.
I found the Employee-Self-Service-Agent-Developer-Kit that contains same examples of the ServiceNow HRSD topics, but when I copy the YAML code of those topics to my agent I got some references to topics that I do not exists in my agents.

Anyone has struggled with the same? Or maybe you have access to the Employee Self-Service agent and can share the basic solution/topics with me?

Copilot Podcast Creations Stuck in “Creating” State

My Copilot podcast creations are stuck in the “Creating” state and will not delete. The delete button is greyed out. I have already tried closing all browsers, restarting my iPad, phone, and PC, and the issue persists across all devices. It looks like the jobs are stuck in the backend queue and cannot be cleared from my side. I also attempted to open a support chat, but the service request auto‑closed before an agent joined.

Is there a way to clear these stuck podcast creations on the backend, or can someone from Microsoft confirm if this is a known issue?

Platform Issue: Agent-Level MCP Initialization Blocks All Topics for Users Without Connection Access

I’m writing to report a significant platform behavior issue we’ve encountered with MCP (Model Context Protocol) server initialization in Copilot Studio that is severely impacting end-user experience.

ENVIRONMENT

• Platform: Microsoft Copilot Studio

• Deployment Channel: Microsoft Teams

• Agent Type: Custom Agent (EdiSENSE DEV)

• MCP Server: Atlassian Confluence-Jira MCP

• Affected Users: Users without Confluence/Jira access entitlements

PROBLEM SUMMARY

When an MCP server is registered at the agent level in Copilot Studio, it appears to be initialized globally before any topic routing occurs. If a user’s MCP connection is in a Not Connected state — even if their query has absolutely nothing to do with that MCP server - the agent gets stuck in an authentication loop, repeatedly prompting:

“Let’s get you connected first. Open connection manager to verify your credentials. Once the connection is ready, retry your request.”

The user is shown Retry / Cancel buttons, and the agent never proceeds to route the query to the appropriate topic.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE

1. Register an MCP server (e.g., Confluence-Jira) at the agent level in Copilot Studio

2. Deploy the agent to Microsoft Teams

3. Log in as a user who does NOT have access to the MCP-connected service (e.g., no Confluence license)

4. Ask the agent any question completely unrelated to the MCP service

5. Observe: Agent does not route to any topic. Instead, it loops on MCP connection prompt indefinitely

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

• MCP initialization failure for a specific service should NOT block unrelated topic routing

• The agent should gracefully degrade - if an MCP connection is unavailable for a user, it should skip that MCP and continue routing the query to relevant topics

• There should be a way to scope MCP connections to specific topics, or at minimum, mark them as optional/non-blocking

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

• Agent-level MCP initialization blocks the entire conversation flow

• Users without MCP access cannot use ANY functionality of the agent, even features completely unrelated to the MCP service

• There is no graceful fallback or bypass mechanism available to agent builders

BUSINESS IMPACT

This is a critical gap for enterprise deployments where:

• Not all users have access to every integrated service

• Agents serve a broad user base with varying entitlements

• Admins have no control over MCP initialization order or failure handling

In our case, a large portion of our Teams users are completely locked out of the agent’s core functionality simply because they don’t have a Confluence license - even though they never intended to use Confluence-related features.

FEATURE REQUEST / SUGGESTED RESOLUTION

1. Allow MCP servers to be scoped at the topic level, not just agent level

2. Introduce an optional flag for MCP connections so initialization failure is non-blocking

3. Provide agent builders with a connection status condition node in the topic flow to handle MCP failures gracefully

4. At minimum, allow the Cancel button in the auth prompt to fall through to normal topic routing

I’d appreciate any guidance on whether there is a current workaround, or if this is a known limitation on the roadmap for resolution.

Copilot Studio agent not visible in M365 mobile app without desktop access

Hi,

I'm having an issue with a Copilot Studio agent not being discoverable in the Microsoft 365 mobile app for users without desktop access.

**Setup:**

- Agent created in Copilot Studio, published and shared with specific users

- All users have the same Microsoft 365 Copilot license

- Target channel is the Microsoft 365 app (not Teams)

- The agent has been published to both the Teams and Microsoft 365 channels in Copilot Studio

**The problem:**

Users who have access to a desktop/browser can open the agent via a direct link, add it, and after that it appears correctly in the M365 mobile app. However, users who only have access to the M365 mobile app cannot find the agent there — even though it has been shared with them.

**What I've tried:**

- Verified the agent is published and shared directly with the affected users in Copilot Studio

- Confirmed all users have the same license

- Published the agent to both Teams and Microsoft 365 channels

- Sending a direct link to the agent — works on desktop/browser but not actionable in the mobile app in a way that adds the agent

- Logging out and back in to the M365 mobile app

**What I'm looking for:**

Is there a way for users to discover and add a shared Copilot Studio agent directly from the M365 mobile app, without needing desktop or browser access first?

Any help or workarounds are appreciated!

How to use agents response as an input to a topic?

Hi I would like to use the agents reponse to store it in a word or excel file. For that, I would like to use the response provided by the agent, pass it on to my custom topic which triggers an agentic workflow to store the agents response in a word or excel file.

I cannot sort out how to pick the agents response and pass it on to my custom topic, any help will be highly appreciated, thanks!

Copilot Studio Agent resetting when processing PDF drawings (300MB+) via Claude 4.6 Sonnet

Hello everyone,

I am building an automated drawing review verification agent inside Copilot Studio using the Claude 4.6 Sonnet model. The goal of the agent is to read a comments package (20-40MB) and verify if those design comments were successfully incorporated into a milestone drawing set (300MB–400MB).

When testing this workflow natively within Claude, the model handles the token load perfectly and returns an accurate compliance/incorporation summary within approximately 20 minutes.

However, when running the exact same agent setup within Copilot Studio, the conversational canvas repeatedly crashes and resets the session. I suspect I am hitting the 100-second synchronous conversational timeout or overloading the chat runtime payload limits due to the massive file sizes.

Because of corporate compliance policies, this agent must live within our Microsoft tenant so it can be scaled across our operations team via Microsoft 365.

How can I fix Copilot Studio to have its performance match Claude's, as it is utilizing the same agent model.

I am fairly new to working with AI but am willing explore any avenue as if I can figure out a solution this will help save a lot of time for colleagues.

We are testing a Copilot Studio agent and would like to test/use Dataverse as a data source. At a very basic level, the Dataverse table has been created with the following columns: Category Question and topic Answer to customer The challenge is that our Copilot Studio agent cannot find any relevant answers or data from our Dataverse table. Under ‘Knowledge’, our Dataverse table shows a status of: ‘Unknown’. It has remained in this state for several days. Removing and re-adding the knowledge source does not help. What are we doing wrong?

Giving AI Agent access to move files between folders

Hi Community,

I have built a PDF to Excel reconcilliation AI Agent using Microsoft Copilot that reconciles supplier statements against payables data for our organisation. The agent works well. it reads PDF supplier statements and Excel reports from a SharePoint document library, performs the reconciliation, and produces a structured audit-ready report.

However, I am hitting a limitation at the final step. Once the reconciliation is complete, I would like the agent to automatically move the processed supplier statement PDF from its current folder to a subfolder called "reconcilled" within the same SharePoint document library.

My question is What is the recommended way to give a Copilot AI Agent the ability to move files between SharePoint folders?

Any guidance, documentation links, or examples from others who have implemented similar workflows would be greatly appreciated.

Designing a Governed RTO Compliance Agent Using Copilot Studio and Databricks Genie

Enterprise AI adoption in HR scenarios comes with a unique challenge: how do you deliver actionable insights without compromising privacy, trust, or policy boundaries?

In this blog, I’ll share how we built an RTO (Return‑to‑Office) Compliance Agent using Microsoft Copilot Studio and Databricks Genie, focusing on governance‑first design, controlled data access, and real‑world enterprise constraints.

This solution was developed as part of an HRLT proof‑of‑value initiative and is designed to support people managers with clear, aggregated compliance insights, delivered conversationally inside Microsoft Teams.

The Problem We Were Solving

As hybrid work models mature, organizations need a reliable way to answer questions such as:

How compliant is my team with RTO expectations?
Are there trends across regions or time periods?

Traditional dashboards often fall short because they:

Require manual interpretation
Expose too much granular data
Are difficult to govern at scale

Our objective was to create an AI‑powered conversational interface that provides:

Only manager‑authorized, aggregated insights
Zero visibility into individual‑level behavior
Built‑in enforcement of HR and privacy policies

Architecture Overview

The solution integrates Copilot Studio with Databricks Genie, backed by curated data sources.

A manager asks a question in Copilot Studio
Copilot forwards the request to Genie with instruction constraints
Genie executes logic only on curated, approved tables
Calculations are performed at team or manager level only
Copilot formats and returns compliant responses (text, tables, or charts)

At no point are employee IDs, badge events, or individual metrics exposed.

Using Genie as a Governance Layer, Not Just a Query Tool

One of the most critical decisions was to treat Databricks Genie as a policy‑enforcement layer, not merely a natural‑language SQL generator.

Synonyms and NL mappings for HR terminology
Strict filtering logic for employee categories
Population threshold enforcement (minimum count)
Explicit rejection of sensitive attributes such as gender, race, religion, or age
Prevention of formula or row‑level data exposure

This approach ensured that even malformed or risky prompts could not bypass policy constraints.

Compliance Scenarios Supported

The agent supports multiple business‑aligned interpretations of RTO compliance:

Hybrid Compliance
Hybrid employees counted only on eligible hybrid days
Onsite Compliance
Onsite employees counted across standard working days
All Employees View
Weighted aggregation combining hybrid and onsite logic

These scenarios are embedded into the agent’s instruction logic, not dynamically inferred at runtime—ensuring consistency and auditability.

Why We Chose Conversational AI Over Dashboards

A key insight early on was that managers don’t want spreadsheets—they want answers.

Instead of navigating filters and charts, managers can ask:

“What was my team’s compliance last week?”
“Show me a comparison across regions.”

When required, the agent can also render simple visual outputs.

Closing Thoughts

This RTO Compliance Agent demonstrates how Copilot Studio and Databricks Genie can be used to build governed, enterprise‑ready AI solutions—especially in sensitive domains like HR.

By embedding policy into architecture, instructions, and data access, we were able to deliver:

Strong privacy guarantees
High user trust

This pattern is extensible well beyond RTO—opening the door for future HR intelligence use cases built on the same foundation.
