Universal Print Connect 2.4.9459.590 Service keeps stop /start

Hi Support,

I installed Universal Print Connector 2.4.9459.590 on a Windows Server 2025 Standard server. The Print Connector Service keeps stopping and restarting. When the service starts, I am briefly able to log in, but it stops again shortly after.

I have change the ports to 8095 and that did not help.

I verified that the required port is not already in use. Could this be an issue with this version of the connector, or is there anything else I should check or configure?

Thank you.

netstat -ano |findstr "8091"

when I run the program I get this

after a quick second i am able to get to the site it will stop

I bought a new HP DeskJet 2700, and I am trying to connect my printer to the Wi-Fi. My network is working fine, yet the printer is unable to detect it and keeps showing offline. Is there anything that I am missing while doing the wireless setup?

Windows 11 January 2026 update breaks universal print

Hi:

I had logged this ticket with Microsoft support on January 18th when the problem started. However, today they closed the case without notifying me. When I followed up to see why it had been closed. They did not consider this a break fix, and nobody else has reported the issue. I want to find out if this is true. I'm sure Azure Universal Print is used by a large number of customers.

We have been using Azure Universal Print for well on three years without any issues, until Microsoft released the KB5077744 (OS Builds 26200.7627 and 26100.7627). We use a staggered update schedule, so not all computers receive the update. As soon as machines started to receive it, printing errors started to show the errors when trying to print:

When trying to view printer properties

Machines who never received the update could still print. Here are the errors we see when selecting or printing to a universal printer. The only thing mentioned about this update regarding printing was no new third-party drivers would be added to Windows Update.

Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000003)

The system cannot find the path specified

when trying to print.

AND

The ‘Universal Print Class Driver’ printer driver is not installed on this computer. Some printer properties will not be available…..

Sorry, I tried to attach pictures, but it would not let me post. Ill see if I can add them after the initial post.

Microsoft support had a look in Print Management on a Windows 11 machine to see the version of the Universal Print Class Driver on machines that could and could not print.

On a computer that could not print (10.0.26100.7627).

On a computer that can print and never received the updates (10.0.26100.7623):

Since then, we have built some new computers that just received the OOB patch released on January 28th (KB5074752) and they have no issues printing. The only other difference was the computer received 25H2. However, I tried 25H2 on a broken computer, and it had no impact. Just to make sure.

Removing an old Universal Print printer automatically and printing issues

Hi smart people of the Microsoft Community Hub,

I have a requirement to remove a particular old Universal Print printer on all Windows devices automatically (via an MDM solution such as Microsoft Intune). As the printer is mapped via Intune originally, I tried to just simply remove the printer from the Intune configuration policy but the printer stays mapped.

I checked for PowerShell cmdlets that would help to automate this process, but the Universal Print PowerShell module has very limited documentation and it does not seem to support unattended removal of a Universal Print printer via PowerShell script.

In addition, I have another issue relating to printing where Universal Print print jobs may sometimes print off 20 or more pages of Wingdings characters. The only pattern I've noticed with this is that it is related specifically to PDF files. If Universal Print wasn't involved I'd chalk this up to a printer driver issue or mismatch, but I don't know how to troubleshoot this specifically on Universal Print. The printer models that have had this issue are HP LaserJet MFP H577, LaserJet MFP M578 and LaserJet MFP M633.

Please can you assist me with either issue? Thanks!

Slow Printing HP Futuresmart 5.9.0.2

Hello everyone,

I am testing Universal Print with an HP MFP running Futuresmart 5.9.0.2, and overall I find it quite interesting 😀 However, it is extremely difficult to get support from printer manufacturers, and there is very little feedback or shared experience available 😢

During my tests, I noticed internal processing delays (=DownloadTime–FinalTime) on the HP MFP that vary without any apparent Reason (printing PDF from W11/EDGE and content-type is Application/PDF).

In addition, I observed significant differences in internal processing time for certain documents (such as plans) between Universal Print Cloud printing and direct TCP/IP 9100 printing. The delay increases from 2 minutes of processing to 3 minutes.

I contacted HP support, but it is very complicated to get assistance regarding Universal Print. Do you have any insights? How should I proceed?

Thank you in advance, and have a great day ☀️

How does a Universal Print Ready Printer communicate with IPP infrastructure printer?

The Universal Print Ready Printer is acting as an IPP proxy, is it correct? According to PWG 5100.18, the IPP proxy inside a printer should send Update-Output-Device-Attributes to the Infrastructure printer.

After obtaining Device Access Token following https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/universal-print/hardware/universal-print-oem-printer-device-token , which URL is used to post Update-Output-Device-Attributes with that device access token?

It used to only take 15 - 20seconds, it then progressed to 1min, 2min and now can be 3minutes before connecting and adding the printer or it may not add the printer. This is what it looks like.

I found that sometimes you can go back to Bluetooth & Devices, then to Printers & Scanners, add another printer and eventually they will both show as installed.

On VPN

Adding printers to my computer after a restart and no UP Printers installed to see how that works.

BHFBC1RECPMC01, 154sec

BHFBC1NRSPMC02, 48sec

BHFBC1OFFPMC01, 36sec

There is still a popup for each UP Printer when Epic is launched.

Off VPN

Removed printers, restarted computer

BHFBC1RECPMC01, 34sec

BHFBC1NRSPMC02, 28sec

BHFBC1OFFPMC01, 26sec

Can't enrol one PC to Win10 ESU

I paid for the ESU program and one of my 5 PC's refuses to enrol. The latest 22H2 and other updates are installed, it's signed in with my MS account as Administrator. location services are on. I tried changing to a local login and then back to the MS account and that did not help. Windows Update reports "Your version of Windows has reached the end of support" and there's no "You have enrolled..." text on the right on the Windows Updates page as there is on my other computers. When I try taking the steps to enrol it in the ESU program I get an error message after entering my Microsoft Account info (which the computer's already using to log on ..)

It's not a computer I use often, so there's no huge rush to fix it. But I'm wondering what steps I can take to fix it?

I tried doing a chat with MS support but they suggested I try "Microsoft Community Support page for assistance" first: "Microsoft still has a dedicated support team available to assist with ESU enrollment issues. That’s why I’m recommending you reach out to the Windows 10 ESU support team directly—they can help verify your device’s status" .... I assume they mean here??

Thanks for any help.

R

Currently Universal Print Printer default settings has very limited options only. So because of that we are not able to configure the required custom print options.

It would be better if Microsoft can add all other printer options settings like paper sizes, sources, staple, punch hole, booklet, double side printing, etc. to the default printer settings the Universal Print.

And if Microsoft can add additional ways to release print jobs like using a pin, or Authenticator app, etc. will be beneficial to the users.

UP registration error 50199 Interactive login required

I am getting a UP registration error 50199 Interactive login required, the admin account has an E3 and the printer admin role. I was able to register printers recently. It is a Canon Image Runner, that gives a Devicelogin code then runs through MFA but fails with the Sign-ins logs saying Interactive login required. The login shows a conditional access Success. Can you suggest any trouble shooting steps.

As per below image. I have assigned the user account I signed in with Print Administrator in Entra and the message persists. Is this a bug?

I am using Windows Server 2022.

Universal Print Connector App browser is not supported in Windows Server 2022

I'm trying to install the Universal Print Connector app on a VM running Windows Server 2022 and am getting the message below. It seems that the app is using IE despite Edge being the default browser.

AI recommended using WebView2 Runtime to fix this however I had no success with that.

Any solutions would be very much appreciated!

Custom forms broken since last update

We use custom forms to print custom paper sizes. Settings were working fine before last month and now (since the current rollout) they're broken. Settings can no longer be selected. I'm so tired of MS rolling out half baked updates for this product and breaking our environment. I have enough on my plate as it is.

We pay good money for the licensing. Get this fixed.

Secure release QR code from iPad

We have successfully configure universal print and have secure release setup. This is working fine from an android phone and iPhone using the M365 app which needs to be installed. Scan the QR code, finds the printer and job is released.

However when scanning the QR code from an iPad using the same version of the M365 app this doesn't work. The QR scan opens the M365 app but doesn't find the printers as it does on the mobile versions. It just lands on the co-pilot page.

If you scan the QR code from the iPad and get safari to open the link, rather than M365 Co pilot app, but I get the message "Currently secure release of print jobs is not supported on this device" Can I confirm that this is not supported from an iPad as it works from an iPhone on the same software version. Will support be added to the M365 Copilot for iPad release.

IOS says it is supported but not clear if this is only Phones that are supported?

Many thanks

Universal Print for BYOD and Contractor printers

Can we have a new role that is one-time use for adding one printer to UP?

Many large organizations have remote workers that already have a printer (e.g. employees, contractors or even franchisees). These organizations want to allow users to print on their own existing (personal) printer but have visibility and management of their print jobs. They want to re-use these existing assets to be more environmentally friendly and be more cost effective. This is especially common for organizations using Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365.

One way to achieve this is to use the UP connector and convert any BYOD attached printer to a UP one. Yes, this will also require support for Windows 11 Home BYOD also, but let's address the contractor Windows 11 Pro devices first.

The challenge is it requires Printer Administrator or Global Admin privileges to install the UP connector, and organizations will not give end users this access. The alternative is to do the old school method of setting up a "managed printer" and shipping it to the end user, but then there is no re-use of existing printers and there is even more management overhead.
