Screen protector for surface pro 11 and slim pen

Hi everyone.

I’ve had my surface pro 11 for a few weeks now and have been avoiding using the pen much because I haven’t been able to find a good screen protector. I hand write a lot for work and don’t want any scratches.

I got a tempered glass matte screen protector and I can barely write with the slim pen. It’s not great with responsiveness but it’s also really tough to write on. The pen barely moves and just gets stuck.

Any suggestions that will allow me to use my slim pen properly but also protect my screen?

Surface Pro 8 Cover defect

Hello everyone,
I’d like to share my experience with the Microsoft keyboard for the 13-inch Surface Pro 8 with pen holder compartment.
After a little more than two years of use, the keyboard stopped working.

At first, I thought it was a software problem, so (after checking for updates) I followed all the reset and diagnostic procedures recommended on Microsoft’s website, including those suggesting a safe mode restart, up to a full system reset. None of this worked.

I then checked on Microsoft’s website to see if it was still under warranty, but unfortunately, the two years had just passed, and the site suggested I send it in for a paid repair...

Instead, I decided to look into the issue myself and discovered that the flex cable connecting the keyboard’s connector was cleanly cut right after the pen holder slot, which is made of metal.
The cut occurred exactly where the metal base that holds the pen ends, at the point where the keyboard bends (see photo).

It is clear that the flex cable has no protective layer to prevent the metal from cutting into it when the keyboard is bent.

In my opinion, this is an obvious manufacturing defect that should be covered under warranty.
It would be nice if Microsoft gave some acknowledgment in this regard.

Best regards,
Adamo

Hi!

I own a Surface Pro 6 that has been updated to the latest version of Windows 11 24H2 and I have recently come into possession of a Surface Dock 1.

Follow the page at this address:

https://learn.microsoft.com/it-it/surface/surface-dock-firmware-update

I tried to update the firmware installing the file:

Surface_Dock_FwUpdate_1.53.139_Win10_17763_20.075.41193_0_AMD64.msi

but the update apparently fails.

In fact running the command:

<LI-CODE lang="applescript">Reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WUDF\Services\SurfaceDockFwUpdate\Parameters"</LI-CODE>

I get the following result:

<LI-CODE lang="powershell">HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WUDF\Services\SurfaceDockFwUpdate\Parameters

    Component20FirmwareUpdateStatusRejectReason REG_DWORD 0x0</LI-CODE>

As can be seen, the value of Component10CurrentFwVersion is correct, while that of Component20CurrentFwVersion (which should be 0x4a1d570) is different.
In the Event Viewer I read the following entries:

<LI-CODE lang="powershell">Informazioni	11/10/2024 16:00:29	SurfaceDockFwUpdate	2011	Nessuna

Microsoft Surface Modern Productivity Hub no longer working on dual monitors

Hi

I have been using a Surface Pro 8, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, 13inch and connected it to:

(a) a Microsoft Surface Modern Productivity Hub with a HDMI lead connected to a monitor; and

(b) a separate Microsoft Surface Book 2 USB-C to HDMI Adaptor with a HDMI lead connected to a second monitor.

So basically I had 2 monitors connected to the Surface Pro.

This worked brilliantly for 6-7 months until a recent update on the Surface Pro and ever since the connections do not work together. Now it will only display one monitor, not two, like it used to.

Can anyone help me please to fix this as it's really frustrating and I need both monitors connected at the same time?

I don't know if there's a firmware available that I need to load? or if there's a fault somewhere?

Please help!

Many thanks

New to the community, apologize if I unintentionally did something wrong.

I'm starting to deploy Dock 2 due to the allure of USB type C.

For some reason none of the four Dock 2 that I deployed would work with dual external monitors.

I tried different brand monitors, different cables type and brand (USB C to DP and USB C to HDMI), combination of different ports (E.G. 1 pluged into HDMI the other DP), different surface device (Laptop 4, laptop 2, Pro 6, etc.), upgrading driver and firmware on both the device and the dock, but only one of the external monitor would work. Interestingly as soon as I turn off/unplug the working monitor image would pop up on the the monitor that was not working. I also made sure the frequencies is set to 60Hz.
Anybody experiencing this? or better yet knows a solution?
Thank you in advanced.

I currently own and use exclusively the Microsoft Surface Precision Mouse as well as the Microsoft Surface Ergonomic Keyboard, and I love them both. Experience with this keyboard would be enhanced if I were able to pair it with a Microsoft Surface Ergonomic Vertical Mouse but Microsoft has yet to produce one, so I ask when or are there plans to create and release one to users?

connecting Surface book and Surface Studio 2

I have a work laptop(Surface Book) and a personal (Surface Studio2) and I would like to be able to use the Surface Studio monitor ,Keyboard and mouse to use for the Surface Book. Due to work security I have to use Okta and dual factor and I can not do that on the Surface studio so using the Studio 2 as a second monitor for the surface book would be ideal.

Surface dock randomly stops charging Surface Book(s)

So I've been encountering this here and there and have no rhyme or reason or resolution yet. Say I have to move a user's equipment to a new spot (dock, power, laptop etc.) After moving and hooking up everything, normally during that 1st or 2nd week in the new spot they will report that their laptop just alerted them of like 3% battery and that its not charging even though its been being used and on the dock. Everything else plugged into the dock are working fine so they dont notice its not charging until its too late. The light on the dock part plugged into the Surface Book is active and all. Undocking and re-docking does not fix it, rebooting the machine does not fix it. Only unplugging the docking power and plugging into a different outlet will get it to start working, every time. In the beginning i've installed and verified it has the most up to date dock firmware, swapping out docks will obviously "fix" the issue for that situation but its not a full fix moving forward. I've tried different kinds of surge protectors (thinking that was it). But this will still happen, either if they dock at a different dock (other then their own) or i just had a few users a week ago that this happened to and they have been at their spots for months or close to a year! I have no idea what is going on! We only use the Surface Dock gen 1's
